Newest Update

Journal entry by Janet Pratt

Hi all!

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve updated, so I figured today would be the perfect day to do so.

Today was my LAST DAY OF TREATMENT! Hopefully forever!!! It was definitely a bittersweet day, as I love going to see the wonderful nurses at the treatment center. And it’s the last day of treatment- where I know something is going into my body to help kill off this stupid cancer. But I feel like it’s all gone. I just feel it.

Let’s back up a little bit, and I’ll give you a snapshot of the last few months!

First, I had surgery on July 1 to have the implants put in. I ended up being in the hospital overnight due to a strong reaction to anesthesia.  Apparently when you have chemo, your body chemistry changes a bit, and this can lead to some fun reactions. Welp- not fun! But I didn’t have a lot pain, so I was happy with that. In the meantime, Mike took over and basically moved us out of our home and into his parent’s home, where we’ve been since July 18. We didn’t close on our old home until September 2!! But we finally did, so now we’re waiting patiently to get into our new home- hopefully within the next 40 days!

I did manage to get two different breast infections since the surgery, which were not fun. In the age of COVID, if you have a fever, you automatically think COVID! Well, 102.6 scares you, but luckily, I realized what had happened. I ended up needing one side to be drained, but I’m on the up and up with that now.

Amy is growing so fast! She looks like a little girl now. We’ve enjoyed our summer by the pool, and being together. She is so much fun these days.

My hair is also growing fast! And I’m feeling really good. I’m ready for this part of my life to be over.

So this will be last post. If something comes up and I need to update, I will! But on the horizon for me is getting my port removed, and having a survivor-ship appointment with my oncologist. Two great things I’ve been waiting for since that dreadful day in May.

Thank you for being with me along the way. I’ve felt your presence with me the whole time. For those that have gone out of their way, thank you.

I met someone new today who was starting her treatment as I was finishing. So send your prayers to her- she needs them too.

Lots of Love! And Breathe Believe Battle.
