I only knew Janet online, despite our occasional thwarted efforts to meet, but considered her my friend. Her compassion and determination impressed me and we found support and encouragement in one another. My condolences to all who loved her. I hope to hear when she’s being honored in sunnier days.

A life well lived---in all ways, it seems. We who knew Janet from Eau Claire years ago are in awe of her accomplishments and kindness in her adult life, but not surprised. She was just a neat woman. My thoughts are with you.

I have been a participant in the annual gatherings at the Mautz cottage in Wisconsin — a reunion of school friends. I was always glad when Janet could be there — what a kind and thoughtful person. Sending love and condolences to Kristen and Kelly and so many others who were fond admirers of Janet.

Dear Kristen and Kelly, There are some very precious people that leave a lasting memory and your Dear sweet Mom was one of them. We went to school together from grade school to high school ,living on the west side of Eau Claire. We would say Hi as we passed in the hallway in high school. Our interests , daily obligations and goals soon put us on different paths. However when we would meet up again it would seem like no time had passed. I certainly missed her at our gathering at the lake in September. May you have a lovely celebration of her life in August. Please accept my sincere condolences at this very difficult time. Hugs Sharon Rathke

I am very sorry for your loss! Janet leaves behind a legacy of study and tireless work on behalf of the elderly. I have long admired her compassion and dedication. I can also tell from your pictures and posts that she was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She lives on in the love and work she left behind. Cousin Jan in Eau Claire
