Thanks for sharing this, Emily. So many drastic changes for your family to absorb. It is nice to hear that your dad finds reasons to laugh often. Glad to hear that.

Emily, thanks for sharing about your dad. I’m sorry he’s has had to go thru so much. But I’m glad you been able to spend time with him. Sounds like his place is a good fit for him.
And you’re so right it’s incredibly hard to watch someone you love go thru dementia.
Much love & hugs to you.

Emily, thank you for the update on your dad. I am encouraged to hear that "he assumes that if you are talking to him you are a friend". That trust is wonderful. We pray that even as his mind goes, his spirit will still remember Jesus. Remember, God is walking with you and your dad through this incredibly hard time in your lives.

Emily, I am continuing to pray for you and your family. My dad died in 2012 and had Parasupranuclear palsy. Basically his body quit functioning and he lost all fine motor skills including the ability to communicate. His brain was fully functioning. It was incredibly hard to see him go through all of that, knowing he was fully aware of everything, but had to rely on everyone for everything. Thank you for the updates! I have driven by their house and peeked at the beautiful flowers a couple of times this spring 🥹.

It is a hard thing to watch when one has a family member with dementia. My prayers are with your family and with your dad. He is inside his body somewhere. A little comes out at a time. Your being there for him is a special gift to give him.

We love your Dad so much and loved your Mom and miss her deeply. Our love goes beyond to you and your family and to Sara and hers. We met you before you were a month old. From the earliest days you showed your love and honor for your parents. We don’t always understand Gods ways but what a comfort in His Sovereignty He knows and holds all the answers. Thank you for the updates.
