Jamin & Jevon’s Story

Site created on October 28, 2018

On their way to church on Oct 28, 2018,  Jamin and Jevon were directly behind us. His car hydro-planed causing him to lose control and overcenter into the path of oncoming traffic. They were both taken to Reading hospital and later Jevon was flown to Hershey. This page is to keep family and friends updated. Thanks for your prayers of hope and encouragement.

Journal entry by Linda Stoltzfus

I thought I would give you a brief update on Jevon's progress.
One week ago when we were released from the hospital, Jevon relied heavily on his walker for every step the first few days. We have seen a significant improvement the last few days in his strength and ability to maneuver around and his desire to sit up for longer periods of time. It seems laying down or sitting on a chair with a head rest is still the most comfortable because of his neck brace. His walker is no longer such an important companion.
On Wed when we had a follow up visit with the endocrinologist in Hershey. His sodium levels were better but still not quite where he would like to see them. If our bodies retain to much fluid the sodium becomes to diluted and if we dont retain enough the levels cannot remain stable either causing the risk of seizures if the sodium levels become to low. Therefore it is important to find that right dose of meds. Jevons levels are not that low that we feel that is a risk at this point. We are praying that this is only a temporary issue and is something that will heal with time.We will be doing more lab work on Monday.
It has been a good relaxing week at home and we thank God again and again for this priveledge.
Your prayers have sustained through this difficult time. May God bless you richly for caring so well.
