Jamie’s Story

Site created on April 9, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website.

As most of you know, Jamie was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer on {March 14th,2021}. She was also told the kind of cancer she has is HER2 positive, which means it is a more aggressive cancer.

Life truly does happen in a blink of an eye and you never know what tomorrow may bring. This has been a shock to us, but we are committed to push through this and (excuse our language) kick cancers ass!!! Jamie is one tough cookie and she has quite the support system behind her.

We are using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Journal entry by Jamie Hammond

Hi everyone!
I just got back from a very relaxing time at my Happy Place, out in Duncans Mills Camping Club. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful friend, Kimbal Hall to pull out my sons huge new toy hauler aka The Ritz! Out there and put it in a beautiful spot! I call it the Tree of Life!
I’m in the middle of “remodeling “ my little trailer, and it’s in the middle of painting. So Ethan offered his 3 week old trailer for me. Now I’m spoiled! It’s pretty fancy! I relaxed, read, and painted, ate well, and visited with friends. I’m home now, and today I will have my 3rd treatment. My hair “hurts” which in my little zoom “cancer group” the ladies said it would before it let’s go. This morning it’s starting to do just that. Ugh. This is the hard part for me so far.
I’ll get through it, I’m ready for it, it’s just tough. Once it’s done, it will be one less thing to worry about. And I’ll be 1/4 way through chemo!! 🥳 “Bright spots” right!?
Thank you to all of you who have cooked for Chuck and I, and have taken me to and from Chemo, and signed up to cook and drive, garden, and help in anyway, working for me, listening, sharing, and offering so much love! I am so blessed to have you all in my life, YOU ARE WHO MAKE ME STRONG!!! To make it through the other side! To reach the top of the climb! Thank you!! Please know  that I appreciate every little/ BIG thing that you do. And so does Chuck. Also, while I’m at it, if your hubbies can just do a little check in on Chuck every now and then. He’s trying hard to be strong for me, but it’s hard on him to see me go through this. He doesn’t want this to be about him, but I can see it’s tough on him too.
Ok so off to the races! Two days of steroids! I promise this time I will rest! No more shopping🛍, or cleaning!🪣🧽 😅
Thank you again for the LOVE! I couldn’t do it without my team!!❤️ 🙏🏻❤️I love you!  Jamie
