Jamey’s Story

Site created on December 29, 2019

It is with broken hearts that on behalf of the Shiffer family, we share that our dearest, beloved Jamey Shiffer passed away unexpectedly at the Shiffer home on Dec. 28. We are stunned and beyond saddened.

Heidi, Camille and Claire are together and surrounded by family and friends.

Jamey was deeply loved by all who knew him, and the Shiffer, Manning and Amling families are grateful for the overflowing demonstration of love, generosity, kindness and support they've received from their beloved Worthington Hills neighbors, their Hilliard Memorial family, their Vista Industrial Packaging family -- and from the decades worth of friends and loved ones who have been part of the Shiffers' lives.

Many of you have asked how you can further show your love and support for the Shiffer family. We just wanted to share the following details -- and will let you know updates as soon as they're available.

*All those who knew and loved Jamey are encouraged to please send photos and stories about their favorite memories of Jamey -- or what they love most    about him. These photos and stories will be shared at Jamey's services; and in a book for the Shiffer, Manning and Amling families. Please send your stories    to Tara Schumacher at t_m_rogers@yahoo.com and photos to Michele Gilley at michelegilley@yahoo.com.

*If anyone would like to prepare a meal for the Shiffer family, or send gift cards to their favorite restaurants, please sign up by cutting and pasting this link, or visiting "Ways to Help" above: https://mealtrain.com/k26w50

*Friends and neighbors are planning to gather on Dec. 31 at 4:00 pm, to support a student choir in singing outside the Shiffer home on Heidi's birthday. No vocal talent needed -- all are welcome. A group of Worthington students will meet outside Worthington Hills Elementary School at 3 pm to become familiar with some of the songs -- all are welcome to join -- but please don't feel obligated to attend the practice session.

*A fund in Jamey's honor will soon be opened, to which friends, family and neighbors are welcome to contribute. All funds made in Jamey's honor will be invested to augment the college funds that Jamey and Heidi have already created for Camille and Claire.  As soon as we have more information about the fund, we'll share it on this site. [PLEASE DO NOT DONATE at the CaringBridge link below. We were unfortunately not able to deactivate that section of this site.]

We are using this site to share updates regarding Jamey's services and opportunities to support the family, so please check back here for future updates. Thank you again for your tremendous outpouring of love. Please know how greatly impacted the Shiffer, Manning and Amling families are by the truly boundless generosity and kindness of all who know and love this beloved family.

Service details:
Jamey's family will receive friends at All Saints Lutheran Church at 6770 North High Street in Worthington, on Monday, January 6, from 3-8 p.m. Funeral services will also take place at All Saints Lutheran Church, on Tuesday, January 7, at 11 a.m., followed by a reception in the church hall, which all are welcome to attend. Immediate family will attend a private burial service at Flint Cemetery in Worthington.

For those planning to attend Jamey’s calling hours or funeral services...please note that overflow parking will be available in the lots behind the former Anthem office building, located just just south of the church. There is a walking path / cut-through to the All Saints parking lot.
