Jacob’s Story

Site created on February 6, 2019

My name is Jacob, and I am 36 years old. I am married (Betsy), and almost 3 years ago our little buddy, Tate, made his debut into the world.
A little over 5 months ago, I began searching for answers to a growing pain in my stomach.
At 36 years old, I finally found some answers and have been diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer. My fight began February 15, 2019 with my first chemo treatment. I will be receiving 3 different chemo medications, 2 through a port and 1 through a pill. I will have 8 treatment rounds which will be 3 weeks apart. However, I have been told that I will receive chemo for the rest of my life, in some way, shape, or form.  Because of the nature of my treatment, I will not be able to work full time, and I will be responsible for 30% of treatment costs. This has been overwhelming for my family, and I am just hoping to help alleviate this burden for them.
