Jacob’s Story

Site created on July 11, 2019

Thank you for visiting and for your concern. We are hoping to update friends and family as we get more information about Jake's condition. We will be sure to post here as new information becomes available so if there are no new posts we are still waiting to hear more from tests and doctors.

At the end of March Jake had severe pain in his abdomen. He sought help thinking it was an ulcer or kidney stones but after an ultrasound a mass was found inside his spleen.  At the same time Jake began getting prolonged high fevers, night sweats and a myriad of other symptoms.  He was referred to an oncologist and while waiting for that appointment ended up in the hospital for four days with sepsis and a confirmed blood bacterial infection.  He was put on medication that cleared the bacterial infection and doctors were hopeful that this would explain the mass. However after recent tests the doctors do not believe the two are related.

Praise the Lord! We are deeply grateful for all of the prayers and support and we have great news to share.  We got the pathology report back and there is no cancer! They reported that Jake's mass was a scarred hemangioma.  The scarring masked it from being clear on earlier scans.  They also said that it was not at all related to the salmonella earlier this summer.  We are very grateful for this good report and now are moving on to complete the healing from the surgery.  Jake's fevers are gone and he is doing  better with each day.
