Journal entry by Becky Hoffman

We waited all day yesterday to get discharged, but Jake was so happy to leave the hospital. He asked the doctors for a check list so that he would know what his goals were before he could go home. Yesterday the last thing that he needed to accomplish to go home happened, there was no more blood in his urine! The dialysis was working. For the diabetes, he still needs to take insulin shots. He will also have weekly appointments at the hospital.  But he was happy to be home and he was so happy when he saw all the care packages and how much people love him! After being in the hospital for 19 days he was definitely excited to be home. I was also excited to come back to a very clean house. Thanks to Shane Khan and the amazing people from our community. Also I’m thankful for Tiffini Vance and Nathaly Acosta for the welcome home signs and balloons!! Thank you everybody!
