Newest Update

Journal entry by Dan Dahl

113 days, 16 weeks, 3 1/2 months.......doesn't seem to matter how one types them out but they all feel very different and the same when you start to process the amount of time since Jan 17th.

As mentioned earlier, Jake is home and continues to receive outpatient physical/occupational/speech and cognitive therapies a few times each week as the journey to recovery continues.  He is able to go for walks around the neighborhood, he can now maneuver steps with no assistance and even cook a meal with a small bit of oversight.  He is able to take care of his own self care needs now and reveled in getting a much-needed haircut last week.  (pic attached).  He's been grocery shopping a few times with B and I (says he loves going along because of the plethora of "walkers" in the store - referring to the shopping carts of course).  He is catching up on YouTube in his down time and finding added ways to implement his therapies into his normal days.  Gaining balance and strength is the next big goal, which should become a bit easier in the next couple of weeks as the pin will be removed from his left wrist - allowing him to put weight on it again.

We are all doing well and adjusting to the "new norm" with Jake back home, but we are so grateful to have this opportunity to be a part of this next stage of his process.  We also appreciate all of the helpful offers and very thankful for all that Team Jake has provided in this life changing experience, it will not be forgotten.

A lot of folks have asked about the upcoming benefit for Jake's Journey and here are the specifics at it stands today.  August 19th, 2023, our great group of friends and Jake supporters are hosting an afternoon/evening event at The Bar on Lynndale here in Appleton from 2-8pm.  Thank you Jeff/Brock/Boomer/Teo/Lorie and the committee so far for everything, looking forward to a fun celebration of Jake's incredible Journey.

Jake is planning on attending this event to see everyone again to say thank you in person to each and everyone of you that can attend.

Thank you all again for everything you have done and continue to do - we are forever in debt.
Humbly, Jake and his family.
