Jack’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.
Jack was in a horrible motorcycle accident on Saturday morning, July 21, 2018. He sustained many injuries including a fractured skull, facial fractures, 2 broken vertebrae, broken collarbone, broken femur in several places and his left foot from right above the ankle is severely damaged.   Two emergency surgeries were performed the first day. The first and most critical  was brain surgery to repair the skull fracture.  They went in and put a plate in Jack's head and installed a drain to help with the swelling and the bleeding . The second surgery was on the partially severed ankle and foot. They stabilized it the best they could. It currently has a wound vac working to keep blood flowing and try to keep it as healthy as possible.  They'll eventually have to make a decision in the coming days as to moving forward with multiple surgeries to try to keep the foot, or moving forward with prosthesis .  He is in a sedated state for now while they monitor brain swelling and a dissected artery in his neck that is causing mini strokes. He is on a ventilator, but it is the plan to get him off in next day or so.  They are doing multiple CT's and MRI's daily to monitor the status of the brain and the neck.  He is a young strong man and we are all praying for the best outcome. Please pray for Jack and his parents, Dawn and Chris and his sister Bailee.

Journal entry by Gayle Basgall's

Hello,

You are awesome Jack's Army!

I haven't been on in months and shame on me. That's because he's doing so awesome, I felt there was nothing to update LOL. He's going to his physical therapy regularly, and he's doing wonderful!  He has a home-school plan in place. He's walking Great, and really things we're just seeming like the new normal.

Saturday was scary!  I feel like everyone's guard has been let down, and when this happened, it took us back to us scarier time.

But there you all were, at a moment's notice, I just had to ask. That is such a wonderful feeling to know that when the prayers are needed, we still have them!  When I told Dawn how many people had seen the CaringBridge, just by the next morning, she said she felt so much better.

Well he's home already, doing much better, and his beautiful big smile is on his face.  That's a beautiful thing!

The Stancil's thank you all from the bottom of the heart...again!

And Jack says thank you from the bottom of his heart! You can see below, as he's giving us all his big thumbs up!

Once again, those baby steps, it doesn't matter how many you take, as long as you're going in the right direction.

Jackstrong😇😇😇🙏🙏🙏

Thanks, and oh yeah, Guardian Angels Rock,
Gayle
