Isaiah Matthew’s Story

Site created on May 28, 2022

Welcome to Isaiah's story on CaringBridge. We are using this site to keep family and friends updated in one place. Isaiah was diagnosed with Hypoplastic
Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) at our 20 week anatomy scan. We ask for your prayers for his healing, and comfort and peace for our family.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Paige Neuhaus

I apologize for the delay in an update and so appreciate all of the prayers.

So all in all his swallow study went well. We recieved the results we needed, No aspirations on level 3 thickness or higher! Level 3 is like a runny puree. He did aspirate on level 0-2 ( which is water (0) to other liquids). While the people doing the study seemed disheartened I am not and thank you Lord for improved results!

In August he aspirated everything! Even level 4 and he had only been allowed 1/2 oz of any food orally a day!  Now he has absolutely no limitations on level 4 or higher ( he can eat all the hummus, bananas and mash potatoes he wants!)🎉. His Speech therapist and dietitian come Wednesday and I am hoping to get a game plan on oral foods being a part of his nutritional diet!
So while we still have the prayer to some day take water orally and get rid of the gtube, now is still a praise and we are at peace with that. Also, his nerve reintervation surgery still takes at least 2-3 months if not more to kick in so who knows. We will keep practicing eating more food and hope for continuing better and better swallow studies!

Also, we leave for vacation with my whole family to Mexico next week and would so appreciate prayers. This is Isaiah’s first time on an airplane, let alone leaving the country. His whole team feels safe him leaving and have the “you have to live your life” mentality. Prayers for complete protection and health for Isaiah would be so appreciated. We also have all his medications and all his speciality food we need to bring so
prayers for no issues at customs would be amazing.

Thank you all for all the prayers and support as always!❤️
