Journal entry by Olivia Dacosta

I notice that my breast shrink in size and I had a inverted nipple that was painful and my boyfriend's dog kept tapping on my right breast and looking at me funny,I made an appointment with my doctor Charity alikapala who referred to get a ultrasound core biopsy on 10/20/2021  sent to the pathologist and on 10/26/21 doctor east at central dupage hospital breast health center said my diagnosed have invasive lobular carcinoma breast cancer and nothing else, was said I was referred to a breast surgeon, went to breast surgeon and had a consultation with the doctor on treatment she said I have stage 2 grade 1 slow growing cancer at 10% but need a mysectomy because tumor is size 8.8 cm  given a MRI x-ray at another location have to wait until 11/24/2021 to see a plastic surgeon ms fisher long wait until then I get no treatments,no pain medication,no chemotherapy treatments radiation no nothing can't understand this, immediately started searching for financial help cause breast cancer treatments are very expensive even with health insurance since I'm on a fixed income and everything goes towards my bills also started searching what to eat with breast cancer . Also looked for second opinion options with a cancer treatment specialist the cancer center Treatment of America in Zion Illinois feeling frustrated.and confused not sure why my treatments are being delayed, did alot of research and discovered a wealth of resources where to go for financial help from different sources on help with transportation rent lodging utilities etc wow also learned that Black woman who has a breast cancer diagnosis get less treatments disparities and die more often than other races very disappointed and scared even more! Will continue to research  diet I should be doing and finding help financially and seeking a second opinion
