Newest Update

Journal entry by Brian Dein

12-1-19: Our 9 year old Bree started feeling sick as we wrapped up the cruise on Saturday November 30th. Long story short; we 911ed her to Children’s Hospital in Orlando. After a CT and MRI; She has a golf ball size tumor in her brain and will need surgery within the next few days with a 10-14 day in hospital recovery as long as everything goes well. Kelly and Bree are staying in Orlando as we want to get her closer to home and cared for at CHOP.

12-4-19: Bree and Kelly were safely medi-vaced to CHOP.

12-5-19: Surgery was a success.  All of the prayers and well wishes kicked in throughout the last 48 hours as Bree just got back to the PICU from surgery.  Reports are that it went pretty smooth and most of the tumor was removed.

12-11-19 Bad News Day. On Wednesday we got the results of her biopsy and Bree has amonster fight ahead of her.  Clinically she has a High Grade Glioma.

12-12-19 The great news is that Bree came home on Thursday and is in good spirits.  She’s receiving therapy for some of the minor complications of the tumor extraction but progressing every day.  She’s super happy to be home and is being filled with lots of love and attention.

12-15-19 Bree has had a good weekend at home with friends and family. The outpouring of love and care from family, friends and neighbors has been abundant and heart-warming.
