Isaiah (Ike)’s Story

Site created on April 20, 2020

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Isaiah was in a motorcycle accident on 4/19/2020.  He is currently in the ICU at North Memorial. Due to COVID -19, he cannot accept visitors at this time.

Most important to note is that Ike is stable and does not have any life-threatening injuries at this time. Since arriving at the hospital he has been sedated and intubated, and will be weening off of both as he gets stronger. He underwent orthopedic surgery on 4/20 to place a rod in his leg as he received a compound fracture during the accident. The surgery went well since they were able to place a rod in his leg, but there are bone fragments still remaining and he may need additional surgery. There are a few small brain bleeds that are being monitored.

Ike's medical bills will hopefully be covered by a combination of health and motorcycle insurance. However, he will still have rent, student loans, and other bills to pay. If you feel called to assist financially, please visit his GoFundMe page at the link at the end of this description.

The hardest part right now (for our family) and as Ike becomes more conscious will be having no visitors.

Your prayers, love and support are felt and greatly appreciated!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Lydia Wrobel

Great news...Ike was discharged last night! He mentioned how glad he is to have a real bed to sleep/rest in with real pillows.😀 He slept okay last night and has been in and out of sleep all day, but he is much more comfortable than when he was in the hospital.

Unfortunately, a tooth that had been chipped and repaired in high school is now chipped again, in addition, he also has another tooth that was chipped in the front. He’s still sore, mostly from the whiplash. His face is pretty beat up, but he’s still the same old Ike.

As always, we appreciate all of you!
