Emily’s Story

Site created on December 15, 2017

On December 13, 2017, after a follow up mammogram and ultrasound, I was told by the radiologist that I most likely I have ductal breast cancer. I was immediately ushered to see a breast cancer surgeon and scheduled for a biopsy on December 14. The results are in and after a whirlwind of emotions, my diagnosis is Estrogen & Progesterone Positive, HER2 Negative, Grade 3, Stage 1, Invasive Ductal Breast Cancer. I’m told my prognosis is good and I’m being treated by an incredible team at the Bing Cancer Center and I’m ready to fight!

Journal entry by Emily Hunt

This is how well it went, surgery started at 9:30. I was in recovery and awake by 10:30. I was home by noon! Dr. Vasko was pleased with everything. My favorite thing that happened was I got out of there without drains🤗! I don’t have much pain at all! I took a pain pill a bit ago to help with sleep. We will see what tomorrow brings!

The boys had great days at school and with Grandma and Grandpa! They scored new scooters and Pokémon cards today! Ellis offered to make me a smoothie and coffee. He made me tea😍! Amazing neighbors brought delicious food! And I ate a lot! Off to bed!

Thanks for the love and encouragement!
