Journal entry by Merrie and Bob Warner

Hi Friends of Howard!
Webster of Rye is open now for limited visits on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays (Saturdays are really difficult to find a free one) (and all this information can change daily depending on CDC guidelines and if there are any Covid cases at Webster).

You can sign up at the website signup.com if you'd like to see him.   Because Howard's got a standing appointment on Tuesdays at 9:00 AMish with a therapist, the staff asked if the first visit on TUESDAYS ONLY could be at 11:00 AM or after (Thursdays and Saturdays are fine to start earlier.)

I just saw him today for the first time at Webster. It's been really tricky with Covid. He looks good. Got his beard shaved off by Kevin - took 2+ hours! Howard's speech is improving and he seemed to enjoy our visit.  Make sure you have him turn the TV off so it's easier to hear him and for him to hear/focus on you. The staff was very nice and helpful.

We're trying to get him back up on FaceTime and on his phone.  If he doesn't answer, the nurse said to call before 5:00 PM if you'd like to FaceTime with him and they'll make sure he gets connected. We've been having problems connecting with him but hopefully that's a thing of the past. (Ipad was sitting up on a dresser.) You can see him then without a mask.

His birthday is on May 7 if you want to send him a card or postcard or call:

Thank you all for your concern and love and time. This is a long journey but we're optimistic that his brain is making new pathways everyday to get more speech and other functions back!
Love to you all,
Merrie (Howard's sister)
