Holly’s Story

Site created on March 15, 2018

Holly is a devoted wife and mother of 5 children. Gabe (21), Caleb (19 and recent graduate from Air Force Basic Training), Justyn (18 and HS Senior) and Mariah and Miranda (16).  She is passionate about her family and always puts them first.  Recently she visited the doctor for a seasonal cold.  The doctor checked her and said everything sounded good.  As a precaution, he ordered a chest x-ray and observed a shadow on her right lung.  The doctor suspected a mild case of pneumonia and ordered a CT scan.  On 2/16/18 after further tests, Holly was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lung Cancer.  Needless to say, this came as a shock to the entire family.  Holly has always been active and healthy and never smoked.  We have spoke to several doctors and we firmly believe an amazing team has been put together!  They have been quick to react and she has already started treatment.  Through her Faith, positive support of friends and family and her overall health, we believe she will beat the cancer and be made whole! Thank You to everyone for their generous support and prayers during this time.  We know this journey will be challenging at times, but God is bigger than the problem!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Dan Stuck

Sorry it has been a little bit since I posted an update!  Holly had the CT scan which confirmed dramatic shrinkage of the mass.  The doctor said Holly was "way ahead of the curve"!  Wednesday was her last Chemo Treatment and this coming Monday will be her last Radiation Treatment!  She is feeling ok, tired, but overall good.  The radiation is taking a toll physically.  This week has been the toughest so far.  She is suffering from esophagitis causing her esophagus to be enflamed.  It has been tough for her to swallow and has lost a little weight.  She also has a sunburn affect on her back and chest causing some discomfort.  But again, overall she is doing well considering the course of treatment she has been going through.  Her nurses have been amazed at how well she has been handling it!

So, after Monday she will have a break from treatment.  A follow up CT is scheduled in about 4 weeks that will determine the next course of action.  Tentatively, the plan is still to follow up with a recently approved (This Year) from of immunotherapy.  The doctor advised this will act as a "clean up" to attack and eliminate any cancer cells left!

Thank you to all who have continued to offer support, food, gift cards and most importantly, your prayers!!  Continue to keep Holly in your prayers as we begin the next phase of treatment.  We continue to stand strong in our faith that she will be completely whole!!

Thank You !!! - The Stucks!
