Holly’s Story

Site created on August 5, 2019

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.   On Monday, July 29, I had an unexpected seizure.  After a CT brain scan and MRI, it was determined that I have a golf ball size mass on the right side of my brain.  I am home now and will be until Thursday, August 8, when we head to UCH Aurora for a clinic pre-operation meeting and then surgery on the morning of Friday, August 9.  Right now there are a lot of unknowns.  On Friday, the neurosurgeon will biopsy the mass and depending on the results, they may proceed with surgery to remove the mass.  We hope to keep you updated on this website as things progress.  We ask for continued prayers and guidance from the Lord for Mike, Izzy, and I and for our neurosurgeons and medical providers.  My specific prayers this past week have been and continue to be that Mike and I glorify and honor God throughout this entire process.  We have already witnessed his care, provision, and guidance since this all began last Monday afternoon.  We ask for continued prayers that we would Trust the Lord and have peace in Him.

Journal entry by Heather Stortz

With a broken heart and humble acceptance of God’s perfect will, we must announce the passing of Holly Marie Blackwood who peacefully entered fully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Sunday February 21st 2021 at 6:38 pm.

She died peacefully with Mike in the hospice bed alongside her and Iz holding her hand on the other side.  Holly’s family was all able to be there over the weekend at the bedside as she transitioned to heaven. She is finally at rest.  The 20 month long battle is over.  She is now in The Lord’s glorious eternal presence never to experience pain and suffering again.

Revelation 21:4 ESV

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Please join us Saturday February 27th at 1pm at Mountain View Community Church located at 328 Remington St Fort Collins, CO 80524 for a celebration of the beautiful life she lived exemplifying the loving kindness of Jesus Christ.  We rejoice knowing that she is now eternally at home in the presence of His glorious light.  This will be live-streamed and I have attached the link for the Celebration of Life virtual streaming for Sat at the bottom of this post.

There will be a Scholarship set up in Holly’s name to help youth develop a relationship with Christ through outdoor adventures (backpacking, hiking, etc). We will use any memorial money to help fund this.
