Wow, I love that poem and ache for a tape of Hollis reading it. How fitting. Sighs. Tnx, Petra!

Hollis had a wonderfully rounded, booming voice that transported you into the scene he was reading, or whatever he was preaching. I had asked him to read for a Juneteenth service, The Creation by James Weldon Johnson. He did not disappoint! It’s my favorite memory of him and the best reading of that poem that I have ever heard. Grateful to have known this kind, sensitive and loving man. His memory is a blessing!

Carol,
It's so hard to believe that it's been a year. I've thought of you and Hollis many times, each time saying a prayer.

Anniversary grief is so real. Please be gentle with yourself. I'm glad you were able to go see the World Cup. That sounds wonderful. Much love, Anna

Carol,
thanks for sharing the on-going journey of grief and loss and absence. Yes, i share the sentiments about cancer. And to lose another precious member of the family has to be hard.

So this Friday, be gentle with yourself. Know that you are being held by many hearts, mine included. It will be a year, but not an end to either the loving or the grieving. So appreciate you.
