Holden “HJ”’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. 


On the afternoon of Saturday September 25th Holden was on his way to Devils Lake.  He was a happy go lucky young man as we all know and love him for. He was in a terrible accident.  If it weren’t for some quick think Good Samaritans, HJ wouldn’t be here with us fighting his fight.  HJ was air lifted to Fargo and then on to Hennepin County Medical Center Burn unit in Minneapolis.


Holden has full thickness burns on 45% of his body. And numerous facial injuries. This will require a minimum of 45 days in the burn ICU and many months of recovery after that. 


Our family of Kelly, Tracy, Karla, Chance and Jade want to thank everyone for prayers, love and support. We are humbled at all of it. May the Good Lord Bless you all.

So yes, it has been FOREVER since we have posted but life has gone on. ….

 

Yesterday, Holden and I returned from Minneapolis and a laser surgery that, drum roll please, was his last one. There is one more surgery the Dr is willing to have done. That would be a release of his right hand. He has a scar band on that hand that somewhat limits his full potential. This is totally up to Holden and will be revisited in 6 months.

 

Holden has been released of compression garments, Also, no more acrylic face mask.

 

Holden is beyond the moon and is so ready to start his next chapter.  We thank God first and foremost for allowing Holden to stay with us and continue being the wonderful, compassionate and inspirational young man he is and can’t wait to see what the rest of his life has to offer!!
