Journal entry by Faith Holgreen

Hello everyone!
Yesterday Nathan and I were able to spend the afternoon with Mom. Her spirits are high and she has a really positive attitude. We brought her a grilled cheese and brevet latte from Starbucks and she said the coffee was the best thing she had ever tasted!  She sees just how amazing the medical team has been to get her to this point and they are thrilled with her progress.
While we were there, she was moved onto the 7th floor rehabilitation unit which is fantastic. She has a roommate and they hit it off right away. Mom said she was able to get some good sleep last night finally. Unfortunately in the previous room, let's just say the roommates she had made it difficult to be able to fully relax and rest. She is eager to get going with rehab so she can get her strength up and finally escape.
Her incision from the tracheostomy seems to be healing well and her voice is starting to come back. Still some healing to go with that, but step by step, she is getting back to being her. The nurse had asked her a question and she answered that she is a ninja! That gave everyone a good laugh.
Mom sends her love to everyone and is happy that we can update everyone here. We will visit again today to see her progress and bring her more food.
