Bob’s Story

Site created on October 6, 2019

Welcome to the CaringBridge site for Bob & Lindy Laurent.  If a day doesn't say "Assigned to..." then it is open and available and much needed. We will update this site regularly, so please check back often.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Bob Laurent was diagnosed with an extremely fast-growing, incurable type of brain cancer (glioblastoma). A friend of his has set up this page for him so that friends near and far can see options for helping Bob and Lindy in the ways they most need it. While he and Lindy are awaiting a precise prognosis from the neurosurgeon, Bob is unable to work, even in one of his positions as an online professor. He has physical limitations that have worsened quickly, including his left/right coordination, and has been unable to drive since the diagnosis.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Bob Laurent

It's again been a while since I posted an update.  I had a fresh MRI today, and the tumor hasn't changed significantly in the last couple of months.  The shunt has been helping the hydrocephalus, which reduces the excess pressure on my brain, so I'm more functional and comfortable.  The oncologist doesn't feel that it makes sense to schedule another MRI unless there are changes to my symptoms.

Each trip to San Francisco to see doctors seems to be a new adventure.  This time, we made it as far as Vallejo before the car died.  If all goes as planned, we'll be getting a ride to Benecia tomorrow to pick up the car and then go back to Folsom from there.
