Newest Update

Journal entry by Heather Skelton

Sorry for the lack of updating. There hasn't been much going on. I've already had my second round of chemo earlier this month. I was more tired this time around but everything is going okay. I have lost some hair so we went ahead and shaved it off. The baby is doing fine however we now have a new battle of gestational diabetes that we have to deal with. Because of the risks that just keep coming we may deliver her early. That is not set in stone just something we've been discussing. My third round of chemo is on Tuesday, I'm ready for it. After Tuesday I will have one more round of this current Chemo and then we will get some time off in order to deliver baby. Once baby is here I will start the next set of chemo, that will be 12 rounds. I will be going more frequently than I am now so the side effects may be a bit stronger, we shall see. I have started working on my Masters degree to keep me busy and to keep my mind off the cancer, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Cancer will probably always be on my mind even when they tell me I'm cancer free. I have decided that I will probably be way more active about awareness for breast cancer both during my journey and after. So for those of you who are close friends don't be surprise if you see me sharing fundraising stuff, or if you see me sharing about breast cancer more, or maybe even see me in more pink (which can I just say, I am not a fan of the color pink). Anyway, thats the end of my update. I hope you all stay healthy and safe during the opening of the country. I'm still going to be on lock down but it is what it is.
