Sierra’s Story

Site created on April 10, 2018

Welcome to our updating website for Sierra’s open heart surgery. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting! The surgery is taking place April 16th, 2018.
She was born with a right aortic arch with an aberrant left subclavian artery, komerells diverticulum and vascular ring. In 2008 she underwent a vascular ring division at age 8 through a left sided thoracotomy.

Sierra will undergo surgery through Sternotomy. She has an aneurysm at the komerells diverticulum that will be removed. Her left subclavian artery will be removed and transplanted into the left corotid artery. Also will have an aortopexy. The chronic compression from the vascular ring and now aneurysm has caused tracheobronchiomalacia. We are praying that by removing the compression and making more room with aortopexy that her right main bronchial tube will open back up. It was confirmed through bronchoscopy that her bronchial tube is collapsed 75%at rest and 100% with exertion.

Updates will be given by Sierra Boyfriend Chance, and her family.
