Newest Update

Journal entry by Tiffany Layer

It has been a while since our last update so I will try my best to catch everything up:

Y-90 procedure- My dad had first actual bead placement on Nov. 12th. Upon discharge I was instructed to set up a CT scan for one month to monitor progress. I just finally was able to schedule that after getting the run around from his surgeon (who is also our only oncologist on our team, currently as we are scheduled to see a new doc in Midland on Dec 16th) and also the radiologist had told his scheduler that he wanted to wait until February to monitor via CT but I pushed to check into that because I had been specifically instructed to schedule the test in one month by the radiologist and also the nurse that discharged us. What a headache. Anyway, I got that scheduled and it is for Dec. 14th. So prayers appreciated that we show some type of good things and they want to do one more procedure.

Oncologist- We saw Dr. Hassan who is another doctor at the same building as my dads current oncologist Dr. Bartnik. Dr. Hassan refused to take my dads case even though I let them know that Dr. Bartnik prescribed my dad a chemo that would have stopped his heart! He was super rude to me at the end of the appointment and basically told me I have no choice but to continue care with Dr. Bartnik no matter if we want to or not. I did not think you could legally not take a patient that wants and needs your care.

There is no way that we will be ever going back to Dr. Bartnik so I have made an appointment with Dr. Thomas Rogenbogen in Midland for Dec. 16th. We should know more about my dads plan of care then.

Also, my dads surgeon, Dr. Paulas, we had a virtual appointment scheduled today with her. She is the one who sent us to the hell hole that is Dr. Bartnik. She was 45 min late for a virtual appointment. My dad had already gave up and left. Her nurse didn't even have the decency to answer the phone or even text me back when I explained to her. They are all monsters. I can not wait to be totally done with the whole team. They all offer very minimal and care. They do the ABSOLUTE least they possibly can for their patients. It is truly sad to see this flaw in our healthcare system.

Please pray for us in this journey.
