Harry’s Story

Site created on October 29, 2019

Thank you so much for visiting this site.  We thought we could use this page to update our family and friends on Harry's ongoing leukemia battle. We are so blessed with the love and support from so many family and friends, but it becomes hard to keep everyone updated, so we hope this site will be used as a good tool to keep everyone informed of what's happening, and if necessary what may be needed as we go forward.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jodie Schmidley

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry we have not updated this site in a long time.  Harry was discharged to home on 2/13/20, and has been out of the hospital since that time!! He's been doing pretty well at home, though he had been having difficulty gaining weight secondary to GI upset.  He's been working hard on resuming his real estate business and trying to get back into his daily activities. He is still having good days and bad days, but good days seem to be more prevalent than the bad days.

Harry is scheduled for his 100 day bone marrow biopsy next week, though this is likely subject to change due to COVID 19.  Once we are able to have this performed and receive the results, we will have a better idea of the next step in his treatment plan.
This is obviously a weird time in unchartered territory for all of us right now, but hopefully everyone is staying healthy, safe, and socially distant (as much as is possible). Though my job (working as a PA in the ED) is not the ideal job to have currently, I am being as careful and cautious as possible at work, and doing the best I can at home to avoid passing anything on to Harry.
We hope everyone stays safe, healthy, and sane during this bizarre time and thanks as always for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.

With love,

Jodie and Harry
