I am so proud of our children and how well they have dealt with all the ups and down of Hal's illness the past 6 weeks. In thinking about Hal is hard to believe someone can be so ill and hold it all together for so long so well. But that was Hal.
Here is a letter we sent to the people of Windham who have been so good to us these past 3 years.
"It is with great sadness that the Wilkins Family would like to let the good folks of Windham know that Hal Wilkins died Friday evening. His cancer was swift and aggressive. From diagnosis to death was about (I have not done the exact calculation) 6-8 weeks.
Tonight is our last night living in Windham. I am grateful that William is here with me and I love his company (his 33rd birthday, and first without his dad, is Friday). Tomorrow, early, he leaves for home (MO) to be with his own family. Tomorrow I move to Walpole, NH. Hal and I were to move to Walpole together. I am glad to have a wonderful place to go yet I am sad to be leaving Windham. It feels like I am leaving Hal again. I know once I am there, I will feel equally at home and will be in a wonderful location and closer to many friends and to my work.
We are having a gathering of Hal's family and friends to recognize his life on OCTOBER 19th at 11 AM at the Windham Meeting House in Windham, VT. All are welcome. I'll put together a website about the event soon but now I have boxes to pack and an evening to spend with our dearest sweet boyWilliam.
Love to all, Missy
