Journal entry by Missy Wilkins —
It's hard to believe that this crazy cancer journey we have been on started just 5 months ago. It feels at the same time like both yesterday and ages ago.
We are grateful to our friends and family who have done so much to support us. From helping us move out of Windham to creating a place for us to move. From driving Hal's truck to MO for William to helping drive Hal to work, meetings and appointments. This year our family has learned how to accept and appreciate others help and support. It has always been easier to give than to receive. It really did take a village to support Hal through his end of life and we are most grateful our great village of family and friends.
Hal would have liked his service except for the fact that there was no beer and he didn't get the last word. Thank you to everyone who made the day a great send off for Hal. It could not have been more perfect or more fitting.

With gratitude and appreciation, Missy & family
P.S. The grieving process is messy, unpredictable, and disorganized -- all things I hate. I do know that I have muck through it to get to the other side; there are no shortcuts. That doesn't make it any easier. Probably the hardest thing for me is to be patient with myself. Sounds like that should be my New Year's resolution!
