On June 24, 2018, I went to the hospital with minor stomach pain that had been giving me some mild discomfort for the previous few weeks. After running some tests and scans, a tumor was discovered on my liver. The doctors knew it was cancerous, but to what degree or extent had not yet been determined. I was later released but returned to the hospital after a bout of blood clot issues. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver cancer on July 3, 2018, a mere 30 minutes after Iris, my first grand child, was born. At that time, I had a 7 inch tumor on my liver, a few smaller tumors in my liver, and a few spots on my lungs. It was an incurable cancer, but chemotherapy medicine could help stunt the growth of the tumor. After just two short weeks of taking the medicine, the cancer spread to my brain, and the tumor had grown another inch. It was at that time that Mickie, the girls, and I decided to live out the rest of my days in comfort surrounded by family rather than in hospitals and doctor offices. I entered into hospice care on July 23, 2018. At this time, we are asking that visits be limited due to my lack of endurance. It is our hope that this platform can be a means of updating family and friends without draining my energy. We also know that people want to reach out and help when they can, but aren't sure of the means to do this. We have set up a Go Fund Me account to help pay for after life expenses. We appreciate the prayers, meals, and company and have faith and trust in God's plan.
