Journal entry by Melissa Burnett

Dad has had a rough couple of months. He started out having severe pain behind one eye and loss of vision. A CT showed a pseudo tumor and inflammation. Prednisone seemed to help but was short lived. He is waiting to see a neurologist for that but was also diagnosed with macular degeneration.
This past weekend he was very confused, lethargic, and his speech was difficult to understand. He had promised his grandsons he would take them fishing on the river and he was bound and determined he was going to go. I am so mad at myself for thinking it was not as bad as it was. I should have just made him go to the hospital, I’ll never forgive myself for letting him leave.   Hudson called me and my nephew call my mom and both said something isn’t right with grandpa. Mom, Taya, Mitch, and I drove two hours to load them up and bring my dad to the hospital and the boys and fishing boat and gear home.

He is such a tough old fart though! Telling me where I needed to go, mom yelling at him that “Missy’s phone is telling her”, 😂!

He was diagnosed with an acute stroke and sent home on a blood thinner.

So he is home and feeling pretty good just gets tired easier and has to work a little harder to find his words. But he’ll be back, just need to be patient!
