Journal entry by Liz Wittman

Wow - yesterday was a sad day, but also a good day. There were so many people there that loved & appreciated Gregg and his contributions to others throughout his life.

  • It was an unusual, but very poignant and memorable funeral.     And I was so impressed with Pastor Jim Page's message and how he crafted it to really memorialize the wonderful attributes Gregg embodied his whole life!
  • And I had no idea Kelly Heidbreder was such a singer!! Thank you so much for fulfilling Gregg's final request!
  • And thanks again to JP Coppo, Greg Rusch, Jill Hanson, Jeff Barnhart and Tommy Vandelist for speaking at the visitation and/or funeral, and sharing just a bit more about Gregg and how he had affected their lives.
  • As well as Jake, Ethan, Shane, Max, Bryan and Warren for escorting him to his final ride.

Then, his hockey team gave him the ultimate hockey send off, and I so appreciate all of their attention to detail and GRIT at holding up those hockey sticks for so long!

  • Touch here to see their ultimate Hockey Salute Send off!
  • You were all of his "boys" - and I'm sure he loves you all for the one last bit of effort to make his trip super special.
  • He WILL be checking in on you from time to time, so please continue on in a manner that would make him proud of you and the men you become!
  • And if one or more of you would decide to continue his work later in life - please be the kind of youth or high school hockey coach that he was.  And then you will have also made the world an infinitely better place, and allow his legacy to continue FOREVER!

Love to all,

Liz

P.S.  Gregg's favorite joke is enclosed within - and we were sure he'd want to share it this one last time, to help lighten the heavy load many felt yesterday.
