Dear Family and Friends —

Welcome to my CaringBridge website. I am using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. I appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

The time has come for me to let you know about my health and ask for your prayers.

Due to my being stupid in young adult life, I contacted a blood disorder that has left my liver severely scarred and compromised. As a result, I was informed that I may need a liver transplant.

I spent several weeks in the hospital from mid-May to mid-June. I’ll use this site to keep you updated and informed of my current situation.

Thank you for your love and support.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Greg Crane

Hello Everyone - It's been a while for me to be able to post something again.  Everything continues to go well.  My Kidney functions are getting stronger every day.  I will be headed down to Mayo Clinic twice in October.  One to meet with the Nephrology and Hypertension doctor for a consultation on whether or not I will need a kidney transplant and look at my blood pressure.  One of my new medications is to help keep my heartbeat up, so I don't have any more fainting spells.  The downside of the med is that it raises my blood pressure considerably.  The second visit will be for my three-month checkup with my Liver Specialist.  That means a day of several tests.

Next week I will be meeting with the mental health doctors to check and see if they will recommend me for the Liver Transplant or not.  It is the only piece missing from me being approved.  They want to be sure that they will not send me into Drug Addiction again with the heavy pain meds that I will be on, which I totally understand and don't want to happen either.  It has been hard to complete their recommendations with COVID restrictions going on.  One which was to go into outpatient drug treatment.  I am currently in a program at Minnesota Teen Challenge, where I attend a 2 1/2 hr session every Wednesday night.  I am actually really enjoying the group, and it has helped relieve a lot of my anxiety around being put on the heavy meds again.  The hardest recommendation they had was to attend a NA or AA meeting again. So I have returned to a Thursday night in-person group.  The only thing that makes it difficult to attend is that no one wears masks, and 6 feet social distancing does not happen.  I tried a couple of online groups, but they're not the same.  I want and need to find a new sponsor but haven't found anyone I feel would be a good fit.

Well, that is all for now.  I try to be better about posting more often.  Please continue to pray for me as God is truly working in my life, healing my body.  I am content knowing that He is there, holding me in loving arms as I walk this journey with Him.

God Bless!!
