Dear Family and Friends,
In the wee hours of the morning, Greg went to his heavenly home after taking a pretty quick downturn the last couple of days. He had no pain and just drifted off into sleep peacefully. His family was able to say their goodbyes, which was such a huge blessing.
The service will be held at First Baptist Church of Carrollton on Tuesday, January 29th. Public visitation will be at 1:00 with the service beginning at 2:00. A short graveside service will follow at Hilltop Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Mayberry Memorial Fund which is dedicated to fighting colorectal cancer (http://www.mayberrymemorial.com/donate/).
We all have appreciated the prayers, cards, gifts and emails sent our way as we went through these last few months. I know Greg felt loved by people near and far, and I'm sure the prayers are what gave him such peace.
I was so comforted to see that he'd been reading the Bible on his phone, and the last verse he highlighted was Philippians 4:8~Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. So let's let that be his final admonition to us so that we remember the good and dwell on that, knowing that if we put our trust in Christ Jesus for our salvation we'll have an eternity of joy with the Lord.
