Dear Carrie, Will, and Laura,

Our hearts are with you right now. We send our love and our hugs. We are fortunate to have had all of you in our community, so much what made our neighborhood a place of kindness and friendship. It is hard to make sense of Gray’s illness and passing. May his memory be a blessing. Anne and John

So sad! Hugs and love to the Hurd family! I will always remember and appreciate Gray's kindness and sense of humor, and the wonderful vibe and community he created and let flourish at the ol' Sir Walter Raleigh Inn. He will live on through all of his many positive influences for the world and in how we continue to nurture his admirable energies in ourselves.

Dear Carrie, Will and Laura, we only just heard the news about Gray and are so terribly sorry. Tho the years have separated us, I clearly remember that twinkle in Gray’s eye. He was lovely and I send regards from the whole family for healing and peace.

I am so deeply saddened by the passing of my dear friend, Gray Hurd. Back in the good ol' Raiegh Inn days, he was known as Charlie and I the infamous, "Gordo." I must admit to being Charlie's principal tormentor, but he was always in on the joke and would give as well as he got. The finest manager Iwe ever had at the Raleigh and just a great guy. My hopes that he wil rage, rage, against the dying of the light! Peace, Gregory Gorton

Hey Gray,
How many golf courses are there in heaven?
An infinity? You are teasing me.

Here's to a great role model, a friend, an excellent infielder, a guitarist and the best manager I ever worked under. You will be missed very much. All of my
thoughts and good wishes are extended to Carrie and the family.

I am amazed at your resilience and strength as a family, and to see how you quickly you all mobilized to provide the care Gray needed. I see this as a testament to how great a husband, father and friend Gray was to all who were fortunate to know him. My heart is with each and every one of you.

Gray was an incredible friend. His love for his family and friends was evident everyday. The smile and laugh he carried with him everywhere was always infectious and so welcomed by us all.
I am very saddened by his passing but at the same time I am glad he is no longer suffering. He deserves the peace and rest that is his today.
He leaves an amazing family that will make him proud and honor all that he represented in life and upon his death. Love you Gray!

We have had the pleasure of knowing Gray as a bachelor, a married man, a father whose children befriended ours. We heard Gray play guitare at our street block party. What a privilege it has been to have you as neighbors and friends. One passion you have had ever since we have known you is playing golf whenever you could . Rest in peace, man. You were a good person.
Etienne, Bernadette and the large scattered family.
