It’s always good to read your thoughts... and assimilate them into my memories of Katie’s journey... my memories as a mom compared to your memories as a mom. Our “babies” certainly are not in the same age group, but the Mom thing is similar. As you probably already know, Katie’s chemo trek was 2.5 years, with highs and dreadful lows. I frequently feared the cure would kill her, not the leukemia. And it was sucky to feel so helpless much of the time.
Please don’t feel guilty about sometimes not processing it as you think you should, or having crappy days when you just want to cry. Most of us have had no preparation for this, nothing to refer to that makes it easier.
I just saw a guest on Tamron Hall Show who was excellent at adding perspectives... she lost her husband to cancer after only three years of marriage..... she said prior to that, she had never gone thru any hard times in life....and in time met a man and married again... her point was that you don’t move on—you move forward... the sad part is part of your life, just as the happy parts are. One doesn’t “move on” after the birth of a baby—they move forward. She was terrific. Maybe you can find her online... first name is Nora, and she wrote the book “Hot Young Widows Club”. Even tho her circumstances were different, the pain and loss were similar. I thought of you while listening to her.
