Journal entry by Vicky Lee —
In the car Monday, March 26, 2021. On our way to Hilo. A day of lucid clarity and smarty smart-aleck comments from Gracie. She was very akamai that day. Perhaps when her daughter, Chrissy, really needs a guardian, Gracie snaps back into place as "mom." Otherwise, she's in her average dementia floating state. I didn't want to jolt het out of her dreamy dementia trance, for the trip, but Chrissy has to get their house repaired, the house she grew up in, the house that Gracie still knows is part of her history. So we made the best of it. We joked around. We sang. We made the time we had together in the car purgatory, pleasant. That's how I feel, a lot. That this "time"--- all this time you have when you are old, or in your older age---that the best you can do while you're waiting to get to your next destination (death), is to make it pleasant, the time you're allotted or assigned.
