One more thing...
At PorkyDog Reunion, there were a couple of surprising conversations...
Pat & Sharon, from the ranch, had been to see me at Rehab Facility.. and called several times.
Pat told me he’d given me “maybe a 10% chance of getting up and going again..”.. He & Sharon didn’t expect me to be walking or getting around...
Later I mentioned that conversation to Walt, another PD.. who had also visited several times during rehab. Walt agreed..
When I think back to those days in rehab maybe it wasn’t predictable that I’d get mobile again... Between first and second surgery, I was in huge pain.. surgical pain & sciatic pain. I took Oxi or Tramadal or other pain killers before PT so I could bear the pain.. then went immediately back to bed. When the head therapist said I might never walk again, I cried for a weekend...then channeled sister Margie & nephew Andy and others - that I didn’t have to be a statistic.. that I could commit to walking again.
Inspiration came from many... Mary turned me on to Joe Pinella, who was a quadriplegic after an accident, yet learned to walk again. There was Chuck who lost his leg. There were so many others.. including y’all who called & visited & wrote, cheering me on...
i don’t think I ever questioned getting back on my feet.. but there were times I did not want to live w the pain..
Anyway, I’m extremely grateful to be doing as well as I am.. and asking for y’all to join my visualizations & intentions & commitment to get my leg completely healed.. and to shed another 50-75 pounds...
Thanks!
