Journal entry by Gideon Weick —
Ah, at last I figured out how to update this site. So here is an update to all who may be interested.
After a tumultuous (and successful) week in hospital in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, I arrived in Minnesota last Saturday into the care and support of my son, Alex, Lynna and family, and my friends, Jeff and Cindy Voyen. My son Nathan as well as my Mexican friends had provided much needed care and support during that first week. It is so wonderful to have family and friends around in time of need.
Here in Minnesota I am well cared for. In fact, life is nearly normal! I am staying with my friends, the Voyens, where the tranquil atmosphere of garden, flowers, growing vegetables, sunshine and sparkling dew is punctuated by the family preparing for the wedding of their daughter, Elyse, on August 10.
As for my health . . . well, that blood clot was in the main coronary artery. It was successfully removed and a stent inserted with laparoscopic heart surgery using a vein in my right wrist. I got to watch the doctor perform his art with great enthusiasm and ultimately pride in a successful outcome! Lucky for me, is known to be one of the best in the area. So, now I am taking it easy, getting used to taking meds on a schedule, and getting back to normalcy.
I will be in Minnesota until mid-September after which I will return to Cancún to wrap things up there. Then? We will see. I have cast my bread upon the waters and "the fish are biting!"
Once again, thanks to all for your support. I really do appreciate it and would like to thank each of you individually. So . . . I hope to see you in the near future under much better circumstances!
