Newest Update

Journal entry by Jay Sellner

Hola Everyone !
What is crack a lackin? We hope that all the dad's out there - and anyone serving in the role of a dad - had an awesome Father's Day Weekend!
We also hope that you, your family & friends are happy, healthy, safe.
We keep repeating this, and it may read like a broken record, but we are, and continue to be thankful and very grateful for all the cards, calls, e-mails, comments, etc .. Thank you all so very much!
Dad went over to Abington - Jefferson Monday and met with Dr. Haas, and Alex (she is part of his staff).
He has some blood drawn, as is normally the case.
Alex took a look-see at dad's reading from his controller and also how his wound was healing. She recommended that we see the surgeon - Dr. Guerito - to check on the scab on dad's wound from his surgery.  Nothing to be overly concerned about - just wants him so see it, and maybe recommend something additional when dad's dressing is changed.
As far as Dr. Haas ... He said dad's recovery is awesome, he has ZERO issues or concerns about dad's LVAD or his heart - both are tremendous - and said...See you in 3 months .. September!  We are all thrilled ! Couldn't get a better report than that.
So at this point, we're giving dad the IV antibiotic in his picc line for a little while longer, then he'll hopefully be switched over to a pill.
He still needs to work on building up his cardio and strength.  To that extent ...
Dad continues to be extremely diligent about doing his exercises, and taking a walk outside once day - he's trying to walk a longer distance if not every day every other day.
He's also working on building up his eyesight. He went to his eye Dr. last week, and was given a clean bill of health.  So any difficulty seeing is not with his eyes.  He does eye exercises a few times a day, and it does appear to be working.
We're taking his INR reading once a week, and reporting in.
We'll still have a couple of nurse's stopping by the house for a next month or so - to check on dad's picc line, perform a dressing change, take some blood, and do some physical therapy.
Outside of that, we're just monitoring dad ...
AWESOME, AMAZING news all around ! Couldn't have been any better!
Hope everyone has a great week! Thanks so much for all your support !
