Dear Marlea, What a lovely eulogy. It captured Gerry so perfectly. And it reminded me of the line from Pericles' funeral oration to the Athenians about the whole earth being a memorial to great and brave fighters "graven not on stone but in the hearts of men." So many of us will remember Gerry and feel his presence in so much of what we do. Much love to you and the whole family.

Marlea, really love your comments. Gerry’s thoughtfulness pours out of you too.

The greatest legacy any of us can have in life is to see the best parts of us live on in others. Gerry has a rich legacy that will endure forever. We are all blessed for his presence, but none more than his wonderful family.

Marlea, the previous post giving Peyton's name is actually from me, Patricia. I know, P & P gets confusing to the electronic world!

Marlea, your eulogy to your Dad brought tears to my eyes as I read it. He will forever remain in our hearts and minds as someone who gave tirelessly to his family, friends, civil rights work, church, community and to our country. You, Christy, Greta, Brooke and Josh are the rich legacy he has left behind. As others have acknowledged, we see him in each of you. His celebration of life service last Saturday was such a great outpouring of love from all of your family. It does not get any better than that! May he rest in peace as he was a good and faithful servant.

I’ve been agonizing over finding the words to express how beautiful this is. I continue to be amazed at the eloquence of this family, and can hear your Dad’s voice as I read. I, too, look for signs - especially given that we couldn’t be there Saturday. So guess what I am seeing just now over the NYC skyline? A huge rainbow. The first I’ve seen in our 23 years in this apartment. ❤️🙏
