1970-2000

Gerald was born in London, UK where he spent his childhood and emigrated to New York City with his parents in 1975. He attended Browning School, Choate Rosemary Hall and NYU Film school. He worked for a short time in films before joining an IT startup in New York. He relocated to San Francisco in 1996 and worked at Inktomi, Preview Travel, Six Apart and was with Cisco for ten years. His primary interest was the electronic guitar but he also enjoyed travel, history, playing chess, reading, food and artisanal beer. He was fluent in five languages: Cantonese, German, French, Spanish and Thai. He had taught English in Phuket, Thailand and had traveled extensively in Europe, Japan, China, Southeast Asia and South America.
