Jerry’s Story

Site created on November 17, 2021

After some shortness of breath and unexplained and intermittent bouts with feeling tired followed by great days, Jerry found the right help and is in need of bypass surgery (and a new valve). He goes in on Friday 11/19/2021 for the surgery, followed by 5-7 days of recovery and monitoring in the hospital, followed by a month or so at a Transitional Care Unit before going home with some lifting restrictions.

Journal entry by Carl Kettunen

Dad has been refusing his meds lately even if it's explained to him that some of them are intended to help prevent further strokes.

At this point it seems like he's just tired of dealing with the meds.  Due to all the struggles this has caused, his meds will be just as needed/requested going forward.

Other than that his condition has not really changed much and he is still eating all his food daily.

He did have another minor fall the other day when we think he tried to get up to use the bathroom in the night.  Thankfully he has a crashpad next to his bed and there were no issues when he was checked by a nurse.

Thanks for all your prayers and support!
