Sharon, you've honored George in so many beautiful and meaningful ways. I love the love of words that you and George shared, and how those words made and continue to make a difference. I also really love this piece by Anne Lamott (she's a favorite of mine too - I always feel better after reading her words). As one who often struggles to have words to say, I'm grateful for those who have that gift. Like you, Sharon. Continuing to lift you and the boys up in prayer.

On this stone hard day where we buried George, I wish all of us future happiness with grateful memories of having been a part of his life, and yours and the boys, Sharon.

"Hope" is the thing with feathers-
That perches in the soul-
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -

I've heard it in the chilliest land -
And on the strangest Sea-
Yet never in Extremity,
It asked a crumb -of Me. - Emily Dickinson.

Sharon, you made me think of this poem and also the one once found on the wall in Mother Theresa's cottage in Calcutta - you know, about the importance of "being kind" even though faced with so many people's smallness. I just can't quite find it.
Thank you through tears - and, of course, hope.

In solidarity,
Don Perl
