Newest Update

Journal entry by Megan O'Keefe

Hi All! I know it has been a bit since the last update, but we have some great news to share today. George has finally hit Long Term Maintenance!! This is where he will stay until 11/2022 when treatment can cease. This means much less invasive chemo and fewer hospital visits. I have included the update from Stephanie’s FB below with the details and a message from momma:

”Whenever George is put under sedation, I cry a bit but today, it meant something else...Paul and I are so excited because starting today, George is in long term maintenance!!!! The past eight months have been hard, honestly the toughest of our lives and so much it felt like we were never going to get to maintenance even. This means clinic every month for a blood draw, chemo/lumbar punctures/steroids every three months, chemo pill daily but we will take it. As our life creeps back to “normal” (although it won’t be normal for awhile), I think about all we have been through and all it took just to get here. We stay here until 11/2022. I keep telling Paul that at the end of treatment I’m getting a huge yard sign to celebrate. Today we are one HUGE step closer. Today we can breathe just a tiny bit easier.  Buddy, you have now made it to the final round- we are excited to watch you give cancer a knockout punch. You are SO strong and daddy and I are so lucky to call you ours ❤️ 🥊🥊🥊”
