Gary and I had some wonderful times doing ministry together at Oklahoma City Central Church of the Nazarene back in the early 1980s when we were students at Bethany Nazarene College. I know he retired a couple of years ago and we came back into contact with each other via FaceBook. I then retired this past February, and had hoped that one day we’d get to renew our friendship face-to-face. Of course, the pandemic then hit in March and things have been pretty different since. Now, we’ll just have to take up our face-to-face visits one day in heaven; it just wasn’t meant to be this side of glory. Eternity is just getting brighter and brighter as the years cascade one upon another. I’ll look forward to seeing my dear friend in that city where we’ll never have to part ways again.

Our hearts are broken as we know what a dear friend we have lost. Gary was so kind and thoughtful and we were so honored to have him perform our wedding. He also had a sly sense of humor that would leave you with tears streaming down your face. Most of all, he was a man of God. Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers ❤️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️Gus&Judy

Ms. Darline, I had the utmost respect for your husband and was delighted to meet up with him again in Biloxi after having worked with both of you in Louisville. He was always with a listening ear and giving heart. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. We know Gary is in Heaven, always smiling, and will keep watch over you and those you love until you meet again. Chaplain Yerberry

My heart is so heavy now and I’m sad to hear this news. Darlene, your husband was not only a Chaplain and coworker to me but was a person I called a friend. He was always there when I went through sickness and death with my loved ones giving kind words and soothing my spirit in times of need. I’m praying for you and your family and I k ow God is going to bring you through even this. Thank you for sharing his last days with me, I’m forever grateful.
