Journal entry by Monika Hawkinson

Thank you for visiting Gary's page.  Gary was first diagnosed with bladder cancer in 2019 and had his bladder, prostate, and several lymph nodes removed.  In July of 2020, Gary then had a mass removed from his colon.  Additionally, on October 3, 2020 he suffered cardiac arrest in the parking lot of the apartment complex he currently lives in.  After a one week hospital stay and many tests, it was determined that the cancer had spread throughout his body and chemo would take too much of a toll on his heart.  Fortunately, he was given one radiation treatment while in the hospital in order to help with a particularly painful spot.  Today, he was released from the hospital and is now resting at home with his wife, Carol.  My sisters and I are working together to make his time left with us as comfortable as possible.  Our mom, Carol, my siblings, Heidi, Veronica, Jason, and I are devastated.  We all love him very much.
