Journal entry by DAYNA COLEMAN —
I want to first again thank everyone for the many ways you reached out to us and graciously showed support and love during this challenging journey. I wish I could thank each of you individually but the adjustment to life at home has been all consuming with a revolving door of caregivers, ordering supplies and equipment, doctors appointments physical and occupational therapy appointments, insurance appeals, transportation challenges, etc. It’s comforting to have friends, family, and the community with us holding us up as we navigate this complicated labyrinth.
Some highlights of the last few months include outings to Angel games, Botanical gardens, Petersen Automotive Museum, The Broad and Pinks Hotdog stand, Long Beach Aquarium, dinners with friends and cherished friend and family gatherings.
Gary continues to amaze us with his perseverance, riding the FES bike everyday pushing himself in true Gary fashion. A few weeks ago we were surprised and delighted to witness Gary moving his toes! Since then he has progressed to lifting both legs while sitting in his chair with an effort he describes as lifting 100 pound weights. We don’t know what any of this means for long term mobility but we love the hope it brings to us all. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers as obviously something is working!
A $25 donation powers a page like Gary's for two weeks.
If you donate by April 17, your gift will doubled, thanks to a matching gift by former CaringBridge board members.
