Talked to PA today. Swelling is going down anxiety is going down. Smaller trach put in and is doing well. Hope to remove by Tuesday. She is in good spirits today. Walking around room without a problem. Still working on her nutrition mixture to get it just right. She will do a swallowing test on Tuesday and that will determine if she is discharged on Tuesday. They cannot yet give me a set date for that. I have secured a gray walker with 2 front wheels and a red walker with seat for her. Jake should be bringing to me any time now.

Got a call from PA. Mom is doing okay - all surgical stuff is looking good. She is having some anxiety so they are giving her Xanax. And some issues with the tube feeding causing her to be nauseous so they are concerned they are not getting enough nutrition in to her. They have add anti nausea medications and working with nutritionist to get the feeding tube metrics fixed. They will call again tomorrow

Finally heard from ICU
They've got Mom up and in a chair
They have removed all the extra lines/tubes
They are using the fancy tylenol to control pain and that is working just fine
They are hoping to be able to move her to the hospital floor soon - she won't need 3-4 days in ICU.  I don't want them to rush her out the door but it is a good thing to not be in ICU for too long!

Gail went in for surgery at 7:30 on the dot!  They have called to keep me informed that all is going well.  The surgery will take 15-17 hours - so I will not have any real information until late tonight.
