On the the morning of June 16th Gail was having trouble breathing and an ambulance was called. On the way to the hospital Gail had a massive blood clot that let loose and ended up in her right lung. This severely damaged her entire heart reducing it to only being able to beat at about 10%. Gail was rushed to Mercy hospital where doctors worked for four hours to remove the clot from her lung. Because of the clot in her lung her body was not getting the required amount of oxygen. Prior to surgery she was put on life support to help reduce the load on her heart and lungs. She was given a clot busting drug upon arrival and prior to surgery to help break up the clot in her lung and any others that may have formed. One of the side effects of this drug is internal bleeding. After surgery she was in very critical condition and was rushed Abbott Northwestern Heart Hospital where a scan revealed severe bleeding and considerable brain damage. She was made comfortable for the next several hours until family arrived when she was taken off life support and peacefully passed away surrounded by family. Thank you for all the love and support. A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 22nd from 12-1 and a short service will follow at the Mueller Funeral Home in Winneconne, Wisconsin. Following the service family and friends are invited to come share memories of Gail the at The Hill Tavern. Please help remember Gail by leaving a short story about her below.
